situated,在国家内的某地区用什么介词？

在国家与国家,地区与地区接壤时,介词用”on”

eg.Canada is on the north of the USA.加拿大在美国的北面(is 可以用lies or be situated or be located代替）

在国家与国家,地区与地区之间不接壤时,介词用”to”

eg.Japan lies (to the) east of China.

在国土或地区内部时situated，介词用”in”

eg.Shanghai is in the east of China.

OF 后面加名词，等于形容词。of great importance= important。

同样，their conditions (were) not of the best, 这里were省略了，of the best作形容词。

这里的started不是名词，后面又跟个of，是不是省略了东西？

这里的started不是名词，是动词start的过去形式。
  我们可以把这个动词start变成BECAME，WAS等等。OF后面加名词，整个短语(of “asking no question”)就变成形容词，来修饰 the tradition。变成the tradition of “asking no question”=什么都不问的传统。

完全可以这么改，但是中文意思稍微地，淡淡地，不易察觉地，有点不同。
  

1)the ideal to be aimed at

表示这个理想我们还没有实现，我们准备要实现这个理想。

He is to leave。他准备离开了。他将要离开了。

the ideal to be aimed at=the ideal (WHICH IS) to be aimed at

2)the ideal that was aimed at

我们过去把它作为我们目标的理想。
  有‘发生在过去’的含义。这个动作已经发生了。
